Tossa de
Mar is located about 55 miles north
of Barcelona, on the Costa Brava just south of Sant Feliu de
Guixols and north of Lloret de Mar.
Tossa de Mar is a gleaming white picturesque
town, with 12th century walls, the medieval Vila Vella, cobbled
streets, a magnificent ancient castle and excellent beaches.
The surrounding area is mountainous with lush green valleys,
gorges and natural springs. During the 18th and 19th centuries,
Tossa was a thriving port, dealing mainly in cork, but this declined
and tourism took over. Tossa is a beautiful place to stay, and
has managed to retain its charm and character. There are two
beaches, Mar Grand and La Bauma, both offering wonderful surroundings
and clear water. Tourists come from all over the world to sample
the beauty and unspoilt character.
