Tarragona is
a city located 60 miles south of Barcelona.
Tarragona is home to one of the most
important ports in Spain and is the most elegant city of the
Iberian peninsula. The city has been known as Imperial Tarraco
since the Roman domination. Tarragona tourist attractions include
the Museum of Archaeology and the Roman ruins of Tarraco, which
has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The old
quarter, known as the Part Alta, is surrounded by Roman walls
on three of its four sides. It is here that most of the city's
historic monuments, religious and government buildings are located.
Just like in Barcelona, Tarragona's main promenades are called
'Ramblas', centered around the elegant Rambla Nova.
