Sitges Cataluna

map of CataloniaSitges is located just 30 minutes south of Barcelona on the Costa Dorada.

The former fishing village of Sitges is one of the Catalan coast's most important tourist resorts with a year-round tourist trade. Sitges is a city of museums, the Museu Cau Ferrat has paintings by Santiago Rusinol and El Greco. Sitges was once an artistic centre attracting such luminaries as Dali, Picasso and Miro and it was its connection with some of Spain’s finest artists that drew Sitges to the attention of the rest of the world. Today, Sitges is a thriving, cosmopolitan town that offers its visitors excellent beaches, picturesque streets and a bustling commercial area. Recommended visits include the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, or the Vinyet Sanctuary.
