Sitges is located just 30 minutes south of Barcelona on
the Costa Dorada.
The former fishing village of Sitges
is one of the Catalan coast's most important tourist resorts
with a year-round tourist trade. Sitges is a city of museums,
the Museu Cau Ferrat has paintings by Santiago Rusinol and El
Greco. Sitges was once an artistic centre attracting such luminaries
as Dali, Picasso and Miro and it was its connection with some
of Spains finest artists that drew Sitges to the attention
of the rest of the world. Today, Sitges is a thriving, cosmopolitan
town that offers its visitors excellent beaches, picturesque
streets and a bustling commercial area. Recommended visits include
the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, or the Vinyet Sanctuary.
