Jaen is about 50 miles north of Granada. The city
of Jaen is situated in northern Andalucia and has a beautiful
Cathedral, built between the 16th and 18th centuries. The Museum
of Jaen has collections of Iberian art, from the pre-Roman period.
The people of Jaen are rightly proud of the many olive trees
which surround the city. One thing that all towns in the area
have in common is the tradition of bull-running, dating from
the 18th century they are still popular today. The castle at
the top of the hill dominates the skyline and is now a parador.
There are dozens of churches and convents in Jaen, many beautiful
squares with statues and fountains and a thriving market town
style shopping area. |
