Ceuta
is a city in Spanish North Africa. It is an enclave in mainland
Morocco but is administered by the Cadiz Province. It is one
of two remaining fragments of long established Spanish presence
in North Africa. Ceuta is known officially in Spanish as Ciudad
Autónoma de Ceuta, the Autonomous City of Ceuta. The city
has a European appearance and is a free port, with a large harbour
and is also a refuelling and fishing port. Ceuta is dominated
by a hill called Monte Hacho, on which there is a fort occupied
by the Spanish army.
