Cabra is around 5 miles from Lucena and 50 miles south
of Cordoba.
Cabra is in the centre of Andalucia,
the gateway to the Subbetica region of Cordoba with its many
areas of natural beauty. Cabra was once an important Roman outpost.
The many sites to visit include the Fuente del Rio, source of
the Cabra River, and the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Sierra,
the town´s patron saint which lies at the top of El Picacho
1200 meters high. Cabra is halfway along the Vía Verde
of the Subbética, a walking and cycling route along a
disused railway line skirting the Sierras Subbéticas Natural
Park. The region has many of the picturesque, traditional "pueblos
blancos" - the white villages. Cabra has all necessary amenities
including supermarkets, banks, shops, restaurants and hotels.
There is a public swimming pool on the outskirts of town and
also a natural spring.
